Dexter Returns On Showtime; Clear Your Schedule For The 10-Episode Revival
Time to welcome back the famous serial killer Dexter Morgan in 2021 with a limited series of 10 episodes on Showtime.
Dexter’s official Twitter handle announced the news of Dexter‘s revival on October 14 by sharing a ten-second teaser that read, “Being away has been murder / Dexter Returns.” Later, Showtime also shared the teaser with the caption “killer news.”
Fans are definitely rejoicing about seeing Dexter, the blood-spatter-analyst-turned-serial-killer, back after a break from his work to pose as a lumberjack in Oregon. Well, we are sure he is going to use that axe for all the right reasons!
Showtime declared that it will revive Dexter for 10-episodes. It also announced that Michael C. Hall will be back to reprise his original role as Dexter Morgan, the serial killer.
As reported by Variety, Showtime’s co-president of entertainment, Gary Levine, had acknowledged Dexter’s popularity as a show, its fandom moments, and the breakthrough it got for Showtime, putting it under the spotlight over the years.
Gary said in the ninth season of the show, “We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world.”
It was around two years back when Michael Hall had hinted at the show’s possible return in an interview with Variety. He said, “It’s a possibility, given how the show ended, that we could revisit Dexter. I have just yet to, for my part, imagine or hear someone else’s idea that makes it feel worth doing. But never say never.”
As fans, we are more than excited to welcome Hall and the crew back for our favorite show in 2021. The limited 10-episode revival production will begin this winter, and the show will release on Netflix in Fall 2021.
